How I Designed My Office Studio on an App
And so can you. Right here, right now.
Back when I was a full-time marketing manager and just ascending up the corporate ladder, I dreamt of one day having a corner office. This may come off as superficial for many, but to be in one holds much significance for me. It signifies that years of hard work, as a triple minority, has finally paid off and that I’ve successfully broken what Jane Hyun coined as the ‘Breaking The Bamboo Ceiling’ (great book, by the way).
Fast forward three years later, at the age of prime age of 27, I have substantially annexed my own corner of the Internet and can proudly say I have an office studio of my own. With many corners that desperately needed to be decorated.
When I started the design process for the office, I ran through several scenarios in my mind: a) I could pin incessantly, b) seek out a professional interior designer/agency or c) just wing it. All options seemed equally appealing in their own way.
Then my world changed when I learned about Homee. It’s basically what I’d call the ‘Uber’ of interior design. The process is quite simple and very straightforward, for those of you in doubt:
The Homee App Process
The Before & After
As you can see, the Homee app is very intuitive and easy to use. Each conversation, or session as I'd like to call it, with my designated interior designer lasted no more than 5-10 minutes. Once all is said and done, everything will be added into the cart for you. The only thing left to do is to simply check out. Claire was, indeed, my Homee through it out - she was so apt at helping me find alternatives which fit my budget and aesthetic, too! This is the perfect solution for creatives and on-the-go entrepreneurs who have little to no time on their hands.
Side note: Because my office was already pretty sparse, you won't find many before/after photos. If anything, I had to add more to the office to create the overall vibe and ambience.
The Office Tour Gallery
I see my office studio as an ever-evolving space and sanctuary; it's a place where work meets leisure with pleasure. In fact, I am still waiting for some statement pieces to arrive as I type this out. Stay tuned. This is only the beginning of my interior design journey in this space.
