SOLE SEARCHING: RAF SIMONS X ADIDAS
High-end designer collaborations with athletic shoe labels are hotter and even better than ever. Unlike the rise of Birkenstocks, Tevas and casual sandals of the "ugly" variety, designer sneakers is the one trend I can get behind. Perhaps, it's this constant, nostalgic hankering I have of simpler days in the early 90s when I used to wear my Nikes and New Balances with such enthusiasm. And the those LA Gear light-up shoes? Don't even get me started.
I am a firm believer that Yohji Yamamoto's longstanding collaboration with Adidas on their Y3 series is what ignited my fervent love for this sneaker craze; it's hard to ignore how accessible and easy to wear they are. At this very moment, Raf Simons is killing the sneaker collaboration game and I am all for it. The futuristic touches and neon embellishments he is known for makes each sneaker a statement piece that is easy on the eyes and wallet. It also brightens up our muted outfits without being unnecessarily obnoxious.
So here they are. My favorites for this season. Unisex. Completely chic and wearable. Happy week, folks!
