MY LA DIARIES: FLAVORS OF LIFE
Nothing quite compares to opening up a long work week with a beer sample from The Spice Table. The aromatically floral taste of the Pilsner was definitely a palette-pleaser. And I am not even a beer lover!
It's been a hot minute since I've been at Syrup Dessert. I remember falling in love with their Belgian waffles and soy lattes with adorable, Hello-Kitty foam art before it was ever a popular go to place for youngsters. This Tiramisu Ding Dong was a tad misleading -- all chocolate with hardly any taste of rum or espresso. Sorely disappointing.
Had a fabulous meeting with the talented ladies behind LookMazing over the flakiest pain au chocolat at Bouchon Bakery in Beverly Hills. Keep an eye out on our future collaborations together!
First time trying authentic banh khot at Ha Tien Quan, a must-try on the LA Weekly 99 Essentials List. It was love at first bite pretty much, especially when wrapped with a fresh basil leaf and dipped in fish sauce. If you're looking to expand beyond your typical pho or bun dishes, this is it.
Sweet potato waffle fries and pastrami nosh sandwich are an epicurean's dream come true at Plan Check. Chunks of pastrami literally melt in your mouth, whereas the waffle fries provide that complimentary crunch that comes together so harmoniously.
Like I said, I am no beer drinker -- yet somehow I ended up ordering it twice in one week. This pilsner was definitely worth it. And the view ain't so bad either.
I - finally - tried Palsaik's widely-regarded 8 flavors of pork belly dinner set! It was well worth the long wait, both getting into the restaurant and actually finding the opportunity (friend's bday!) to try it. If you're a big fan of pork belly and groundbreaking flavors...I'd make your reservation right now!
What I wore to eat said pork belly. Both jacket and beanie are from YesStyle. Get it!
