MY LA DIARIES: SILVERLAKE TO RODEO DRIVE
In the past two days, I ventured from seeing a gorgeously gradient sunset in Silverlake to the towering buildings that surround the glitzy area of Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. That's the beauty of LA and its uniquely paradoxical sprawl.
After a pre-dinner, soy chai latte break (not to mention, the ever-delectable sugary donuts) at Intelligentsia, my friends and I hopped on over to Guisado's, a hole-in-the-wall taco mecca tucked away on a random corner of Cesar Chavez Ave. The sample platter is highly recommended, consisting of habanero-infused pork and stewed beef over a mouth-watering molé sauce. I am already drooling to go back for more!
The next day, I met up with Ian of Jack Kensington for brunch at Neiman Marcus' Mariposa. Talk about a complete scenery change! There's nothing like consomme to start your morning brunch, followed by a seared ahi tuna that is generously sprinkled with roe. I was also impressed by the customer service, even though we had not put in reservations like most of their patrons did. Ending the day with a pair of new shades from Tom Ford at Barney's New York and a Markisa bowtie gift from the roomies was the cherry on top of a very very delicious cake! Have a safe and merry holiday, my lovers.
