Never in my life would I possibly conjure the scenario of myself staying at a historically-rich hotel, much less The Drake Hotel in Chicago. For the most part, I am more of a swanky, cosmopolitan hotel type of person. But there's something magical in sauntering about the same halls, rooms and the infamous Coq D'or bar that Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio used to frequent. I was very much drawn to every detail of the hotel's decor, from the boudair armchairs down to marigold printed carpets. The window views were also quite wondrous, peaking into the lake that borders much of the Gold Coast neighborhood. If you're looking to stay at a four-star, historical hotel in Chicago, I'd heartily recommend The Drake. I hear the suites are even better!
