Living in LA means that immersive experiences in various, multicultural enclaves are always within driving distance. Yes, I have to admit that we’re quite spoiled. But unfortunately, with the busy lives that most Angelenos lead and the never-ending woes of traffic, we sometimes feel disconnected from our own community. It’s sad but a scenario that rings true to many urbanites like myself.

Here’s where

TRUFFL

comes in. Founded by Raphael Farasat, TRUFFL is a private members’ club for individuals, across different industries and disciplines, who come together and celebrate the art of living well.

I had the honor of attending and getting a behind-the-scenes glimpse at one of TRUFFL’s #TravelLocal dinner engagements, hosted by the

Cocktail Academy at Apartment A

in the Arts District of Downtown LA, where they brought in

Scarpetta’s

head chef, Freddy Vargas.

And it couldn’t be more mind-blowing.

As some of you may already know, this isn’t my first Freddy Vargas experience, but he broke new culinary ground by creating an entirely bespoke menu exclusively for TRUFFL. The innovative dishes of five (read: it was almost six or seven if you ask me!) whole courses took us over all Italy — from olive oil poached oysters, indulgent burrata crostinis to mesmerizing gnocchi infused with bone marrow and perfectly-seared branzinos. All paired with handcrafted cocktails and Negronis from Cocktail Academy. Everything was on point and simply sublime.
